Real Madrid are through to the Spanish Super Cup final. Xabi Alonso’s side overcame Atlético Madrid in the semi-final derby played in Jeddah and will now battle Barcelona on Sunday for the first trophy of the year.
The match was decided early, as Valverde opened the scoring after just two minutes with a spectacular long-range free kick that set the tone for the night. After the break, Rodrygo doubled the lead, finishing a move that started with an assist from the Uruguayan midfielder. Atlético pulled one back through Sørloth, but it was not enough to stop Real Madrid, who sealed a 2–1 victory and their place in the final.
