In preparation for the 2022–23 season, Real Madrid has officially announced the signing of midfielder Caroline Weir.
After her contract at Manchester City expired, 27-year-old Weir moved to Madrid.
In her four years at City, the attacking midfielder from Scotland scored 38 goals, including two that were finalists for the FIFA Puskas Award for goal of the year.
Before joining City in 2018, Weir played for Hibernian, Arsenal, Bristol Academy, and Liverpool.
She played for Scotland in 88 games, scoring 14 goals, and last year, she represented Great Britain at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
On August 18, Real Madrid will play a Champions League qualifying match against Sturm Graz of Austria. The winner advances to the second round, where they will play either City or Tomiris-Turan of Kazakhstan.
