After 22 years as president and director of the Euroleague, Jordi Bertomeu is stepping down and his position will now be taken over by the legendary player from Serbia, Dejan Bodiroga, who won three Euroleague titles and multiple individual awards during a successful sports career.

As reported by the Euroleague, "Bodiroga will focus on increasing the quality of the competition for clubs, players, fans and partners of the top basketball competition in Europe." In addition, "will seek to improve institutional relationships within the global basketball community, including the EuroLeague Players Association, the EuroLeague Board of Head Coaches, the EuroLeague Basketball Officials Union, FIBA, national leagues and other basketball leagues."

After retiring as a basketball player, Bodiroga was the Vice President of the Serbian Basketball Federation between 2011 and 2015 and later President of the FIBA ??Europe Competitions Commission.
