The idea of ??Real Madrid constructing a Metro station, next to the Santiago Bernabéu, on line 8 starting in 2030 is starting to take shape. According to El Mundo, the plan will be implemented if the Capital City Council, the Department of Transport, and Real Madrid carry out a project that has already taken its first steps in the form of a recently signed collaboration protocol.

The new station, to be called after Alfredo Di Stéfano, will serve as a link between Santiago Bernabéu and Madrid airport. The idea is for any visitor to the capital to land at Terminal 2 of Barajas, take Metro line 8, and appear in front of the white coliseum in just 15 minutes, without requiring any transfers. In theory, it would be situated between the stops of Colombia and Nuevos Ministerios. A partnership document to assess the project's viability has been signed by the governments of José Luis Martínez-Almeida in the council and Isabel Díaz Ayuso in the Community, which means its construction is not yet confirmed.

If implemented, this would be the second stop to service the neighborhood along with the current Santiago Bernabéu stop on line 10, which started renovation this week. A reform aimed at improving the vicinity of the stadium, ensuring it was accessible for all, and reacting to a higher volume of people, particularly on match days. The station will also have a theme associated with Real Madrid. This project should be finished by early 2027.

The white club and the Community of Madrid have agreed to explore potential paths for collaboration in order to complete the work. The new station would cost between 50 and 60 million euros, and the involvement of one of the club's main sponsors, Fly Emirates, is being studied.
