Conflicting reports have emerged about the recovery timeline of Real Madrid defender David Alaba, who has been sidelined with an ACL injury since December last year.
While it was initially understood that the Austrian international would not be fit for the start of the season, recent reports from Austria suggested that the centre-back might not return to action until the beginning of next year.
This situation has left Carlo Ancelotti with just Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger as his senior centre-back options, though Jesús Vallejo is also available for the Merengues.
However, there might be some positive news regarding Alaba’s condition and potential comeback.
According to journalist Rodra P from Relevo, sources close to Alaba believe the defender could resume training on the pitch within a couple of weeks.
In fact, it’s being suggested that the former Bayern Munich star might return to action as early as October, which would be a significant boost for Real Madrid, given earlier reports had indicated a return date as late as January 2025.
Alaba is a crucial player for Ancelotti due to his quality, professionalism, and leadership. His left-footed presence in the heart of the defense provides different passing options from the back, an important asset especially with Toni Kroos no longer at the club to help in the left-side defensive channel.
Real Madrid will be eagerly anticipating Alaba's full recovery and return to the field.
