David Alaba arrived at the Coliseum having played only 102 minutes for Real Madrid this season, with 90 of those coming against Almaty in Kazakhstan. Against Getafe, the Austrian defender managed just 45 more minutes before staying in the locker room at halftime as a precaution due to discomfort.
“I think Alaba felt it wasn’t a real injury, but his calf was tightening, and we didn’t want to take any risks. We’ll assess him further tomorrow,” Xabi Alonso explained after the game. Following a day of rest, Real Madrid’s medical team performed an MRI that confirmed the diagnosis and ruled out a muscle tear.
The tests revealed that David Alaba is suffering from a significant strain in the soleus muscle of his right leg. As a result, the defender will be sidelined for approximately 7 to 10 days and will miss both the upcoming matches against Juventus and Barcelona.
