Following Real Madrid’s 3-2 victory over Celta Vigo, manager Carlo Ancelotti highlighted the maturity and form of Arda Güler, while also looking ahead to the crucial upcoming Clasico against Barcelona at Montjuic.
The Italian coach was full of praise for the young midfielder after another promising performance. “Güler’s development has been natural for a player with ambition, quality, and determination to succeed at Real Madrid,” Ancelotti said. “He hasn’t lost confidence, and he’s worked hard. Physically, he’s much stronger now, and his overall quality remains exceptional. The Arda Güler of September is not the same as the one we see today.”
Ancelotti also addressed the challenge of managing a deep squad: “My responsibility is to manage the team, not just individuals. It’s not easy, especially with young talents. But the bench has helped Arda grow. He accepted it, didn’t let it affect him negatively, and now he’s thriving. He’s already doing better than last year and will improve even more next season.”
As Real Madrid prepare for a pivotal clash with Barcelona, Ancelotti hinted that Güler could earn a starting role. “He’s always a candidate to start. He’ll compete for his place, no doubt. He looks more confident, more relaxed. Before, he carried too much responsibility for someone his age. Now, he plays with composure. I once criticized his environment, but now I have to praise them—they’ve done a great job.”
