Jesús Fortea (Valencia, 2007) has become Carlo Ancelotti’s first choice to reinforce Real Madrid’s squad following Dani Carvajal’s injury. The right-back from La Fábrica, who was playing under Álvaro Arbeloa with the U19 A team, impressed the club with his performances, leading to his promotion to the first team after just two training sessions. Based on glowing reports from within the club, Ancelotti has decided that Fortea will not return to the U19 squad and will now be integrated into the first-team setup.
Ancelotti’s plan is for Fortea to gradually gain experience with the senior squad and earn call-ups. While the Italian coach acknowledges that Fortea won’t immediately be the first or second option at right-back, he sees the young player as a valuable asset, particularly for providing cover when Lucas Vázquez needs rest. With a thin defensive line—Rüdiger and Militao being the only reliable center-backs at present—Fortea’s inclusion offers crucial depth in a position that lacks options.
