After Real Madrid’s dramatic victory over Celta de Vigo at Balaídos, coach Álvaro Arbeloa addressed questions about Arda Güler and the decision to substitute him during the match.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Arbeloa defended his management of the young midfielder and highlighted the trust he has shown him since taking charge.

“I don’t know if any other coach has given Arda Güler more playing time than I have,” Arbeloa said. “I’d like to know, I have my doubts, and I don’t think so. I believe I’ve been the coach who has trusted him the most since I arrived.”

The Madrid coach also explained the tactical reason behind the change, revealing why César Palacios was introduced in his place.

“He’s a crucial player. If I brought on César, it’s because I think he’s more accustomed to the role Arda was playing. But I’m very happy with him,” Arbeloa added.

Arbeloa finished by praising Güler’s work ethic and talent while encouraging him to keep improving: “I’ve always said it — because of how hard he works and the quality he possesses. Obviously, he has to keep pushing. Today, we all won.”
