Álvaro Arbeloa has made Gonzalo García his top transfer priority at Fulham this summer. The former Real Madrid coach is determined to bring the striker to Craven Cottage as he begins his new project in charge of the Premier League side.

According to the latest reports, Fulham is pushing hard to complete the deal and has already come close to Real Madrid's valuation of around €60 million for the highly-rated forward.

Arbeloa knows Gonzalo better than anyone after working closely with him in Real Madrid and believes the youngster has the qualities to become the cornerstone of Fulham's new era.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, remains open to different formulas should the striker leave. One option under consideration is the sale of 50% of the player's rights, a strategy the club has successfully used with several academy graduates in recent years, allowing it to retain future value while generating immediate income.

Negotiations are expected to continue as Fulham intensifies its efforts to convince both Real Madrid and the player.
