Arda Güler addressed the media ahead of Real Madrid’s Club World Cup clash with Pachuca, offering insight into his growing confidence and evolving role within the squad under new coach Xabi Alonso.
“I feel more important because he talks to me all the time,” Güler said when asked about his relationship with Alonso. “I feel good with him because he likes to control the pace, wants more short passes, and sees me as a midfielder—which suits me better.”
The Turkish talent also spoke about his close friendship with teammates Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold. “I became friends with Dean from the very beginning. He’s a calm guy and an excellent player. Trent too,” Güler added, speaking confidently under the watchful eyes of the press ahead of Madrid’s second Club World Cup group-stage match.
