A few weeks ago, Arda Guler seemed frustrated by his lack of playing time, but Ancelotti's attitude toward him has clearly changed. He openly acknowledged that the team's expectations and his desire for playing time conflicted, and rumors circulated that Ancelotti did not consider him to be as prepared for competition as his teammates.

According to Relevo, that was due to one or two incidents of indiscipline. Apparently, the teenager was caught out, having gone out late into the night when he was supposed to be resting. While his camp put it down as a common part of the life of a young player, the staff did not appreciate it, feeling that it was not the time of the season for distractions. One or two of his teammates spoke to Guler about his use of free time, as did the staff. The latter felt it was an act of rebellion against his lack of game time.

His situation is not similar to that of his teammates, the coaches claimed. Guler had previously gone out, and given his history of injuries, they felt the Turkish teenager ought to have been concentrating on getting the necessary rest.

Ancelotti praised him this weekend and also mentioned that he had increased the intensity of his training. On the other hand, Guler is determined to fight for his place and has demonstrated in his few appearances that he has plenty of quality.
