Xabi Alonso is currently one of the most popular coaches in European football. His numbers at Bayer Leverkusen are spectacular, with his team leading the Bundesliga. However, there has been much speculation about his potential exit next summer.

The CEO of Bayer Leverkusen, Fernando Carro, has responded to an alleged exit clause for this coming summer. "We don't need a clause. We have a very, very good relationship with Xabi, and he knows that we are a serious club," he said in statements to 'TalkSport'.

"We are not going to force someone to stay if they do not want to stay. Our goal is for them to feel so good and so happy that they just want to stay with us," the German team boss insists in his message.

"There is nothing on paper, but sometimes agreements that are not on paper are also agreements, and we know that if he needs to do something in the future, we can talk to each other," says Carro, who intends to have Xabi for a much longer period of time. They have already renewed his contract until 2026.

"I hope we don't have to do this. It will mean that he stays and is happy in Leverkusen," he concluded.
