Jude Bellingham has taken to social media to apologize to Real Madrid fans following the team’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield. After days of reflection, the English midfielder expressed his gratitude and regret towards the supporters who traveled to England for the Champions League match.
In his message, Bellingham acknowledged that both the team's performance and the result fell short of expectations. Real Madrid struggled to create clear scoring opportunities and relied heavily on goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who prevented an even heavier loss. Bellingham described Liverpool as "a brilliant opponent" but insisted that Madrid could and should have done more. The loss marked the team’s third defeat in five Champions League games this season, underscoring a difficult campaign so far.
However, Bellingham urged the team and its fans not to dwell on the defeat. "We can't change what happened, but we have to stay together and support each other during this critical stretch of games," he said. Madrid faces a demanding schedule in December, with five consecutive away games and matches every three days until the 22nd.
Bellingham also called for unity in the squad, particularly in support of Kylian Mbappé, who has been under immense pressure. Defending his teammate, Bellingham stated, "He's a wonderful player, but the pressure on him is enormous because of his talent." Reflecting on the loss, Bellingham dismissed the idea that Mbappé’s missed penalty was the decisive factor. "We didn’t lose because of the penalty miss—we simply weren’t good enough as a team, and they played better."
