Jude Bellingham suffered an ankle injury during Real Madrid's rout of Girona on Saturday night. He continued to play for a short while, scoring during that time, but was substituted out to avoid worsening the injury.
Bellingham is anticipated to be sidelined for two to three weeks after Real Madrid announced on Sunday that he had sprained his ankle. This means that he will miss Real Madrid's La Liga matches against Rayo Vallecano and Sevilla, in addition to the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 match against RB Leipzig.
It is a major setback for Real Madrid and Bellingham, but it could have been much worse, as reported by Diario AS. Torre's challenge was just one millimeter away from damaging the tibiofibular ligaments, which would have prevented him from playing for nearly two months.
Ultimately, Real Madrid will be happy that the Englishman's injury is simply a severe sprain and that he will not be missing too much time off the field.
