The question dominating conversations at Real Madrid is how Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappé will coexist in the attack. According to former Madrid captain Karim Benzema, Carlo Ancelotti is the ideal coach to solve this puzzle. In an exclusive interview with Edu Aguirre on El Chiringuito, Benzema shared his thoughts on the situation.
"For me, Mbappé is not a traditional centre forward. When he plays as a number 9 for the national team, it doesn’t suit him; that’s not his natural position. But on the left, he’s at the same level as Vinicius, and you can’t move Vinicius from the left because he makes a difference every game. It’s a tough situation," explained the Frenchman.
Benzema believes Ancelotti has the expertise to handle this dilemma: "Ancelotti knows football deeply, and he’ll figure it out. Mbappé isn’t a number 9, and there’s a lot of pressure on him. But this isn’t PSG."
When asked for advice for Mbappé, Benzema was direct: "He must not give up. I don’t think Vini will change positions because he’s the best in the world right now. Mbappé has to accept that he’s now a 9 and leave the left side behind."
Regarding the pressure that comes with playing for Real Madrid, Benzema highlighted the difference between joining the club at 21 versus Mbappé arriving at 25: "There’s immense pressure at Madrid, but he has to embrace it. He was brought here to score goals, and he’s fully capable of doing that."
