The Santiago Bernabéu’s transformation reached another milestone in the early hours of Tuesday, when part of its façade facing Paseo de la Castellana lit up for the first time using the cutting-edge LED system set to redefine the stadium’s nighttime appearance.
What had previously been limited to isolated technical trials turned into a full-scale visual showcase, revealing the scale and ambition of the project.
During the test, the metallic panels of the stadium’s wraparound skin shifted colors, displayed dynamic animations, flashed, and even projected perfectly clear lettering spelling out “Real Madrid.”
These stunning visuals were captured in a new video by YouTuber Jesús Ramírez, a frequent documenter of the renovation works, where the reactions of fans and passersby witnessing the moment can be felt.
The spectacle is part of an advanced installation comprising over 10,000 state-of-the-art RGB LED luminaires, developed by the company Intelec.
This week’s trials offered a glimpse of the breathtaking displays planned for match nights, concerts, and official events. The technology enables everything from static colors and smooth gradients to moving patterns and scrolling messages across the entire façade. Projections of symbols such as the Real Madrid crest and the Champions League ball have already been tested.
In addition to the façade, LED lighting will also illuminate the stadium’s fixed roof sections. The retractable roof, thanks to its slight transparency, will create yet another light show visible both inside and outside the Bernabéu.
