Madrid will once again become the center of world tennis at the end of April and the beginning of May, but this year the tournament will feature a new and unique setting: the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

From April 20 to May 3, the world’s top tennis players will compete at the Caja Mágica during the Mutua Madrid Open. The tournament returns after its 2025 edition, where Casper Ruud won the men’s title and Aryna Sabalenka triumphed in the women’s draw.

A new feature this year will allow the tournament’s biggest stars to train at the Bernabéu between April 23 and 30. The stadium will be specially adapted so players can hold morning practice sessions inside the iconic venue.

The arrangement is also practical for the athletes, who will stay at the nearby Hotel Eurobuilding Madrid, located just a minute’s drive from the stadium.

As usual, the Bernabéu’s retractable pitch will be removed after the La Liga match between Real Madrid and Alavés scheduled around April 21 or 22. The stadium will then be prepared to host the tennis training sessions.

During that period, Real Madrid will embark on a demanding stretch of three consecutive away matches in La Liga against Real Betis, Espanyol and Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

The team will not return to the Bernabéu for a league match until May 13 against Real Oviedo.

There is also a possibility that the schedule overlaps with the Champions League semi-finals. If Madrid eliminate Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals, the first leg (April 28–29) would likely be played away, with the return leg scheduled after the tennis tournament on May 8 or 9.

With no concerts scheduled during that period, the Bernabéu continues to move forward with its ambition to become a world-class venue for major sporting events, following previous international events hosted at the stadium.
