Bernardo Silva could be set to follow José Mourinho to Real Madrid after the Portuguese midfielder reportedly emerged as one of the manager's top transfer priorities.

According to the report, agent Jorge Mendes offered both Mourinho and Bernardo Silva to Real Madrid two months ago. While Bernardo Silva was available following his departure from Manchester City, Mourinho was under contract but interested in a move to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Real Madrid initially put the proposal on hold due to uncertainty surrounding the club's future. However, before the presidential campaign began, the board decided to move forward with the idea of bringing Mourinho back for a second spell. The decision was reportedly made in early May.

Following Florentino Pérez's election victory, planning for the new season accelerated, and Mourinho began outlining his transfer requests. Among them was a strong push for the signing of Bernardo Silva.

At the time, the midfielder was evaluating several options, with Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid reportedly among the clubs most interested in securing his services. However, the situation changed when Mourinho's return to Real Madrid became increasingly likely.

The report claims Bernardo Silva chose to pause discussions over his future after receiving clear indications that Mourinho wanted him at the club and viewed him as an important part of his project.

As a result, a player who had not previously been considered a priority has now become a major transfer target. Both Jorge Mendes and the player are aware of Real Madrid's interest as the midfielder prepares for the World Cup in the United States.

"I'll go where I'm truly wanted," Bernardo Silva recently said.

According to the report, that message of interest has already been delivered by Real Madrid's new manager.
