Bernd Schuster has spoken about the current situation at Real Madrid while attending 'The Battle of Stars', a charity golf event supporting ALS research held at the Pula Golf and Son Servera courses in Mallorca.
The former Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid midfielder, who also coached the white club to the 2007-08 La Liga title, shared his views on José Mourinho’s expected return to the Santiago Bernabéu.
"Mourinho isn't coming to Real Madrid to play attractive, winning football," he told the organizers. "He's coming to give the president a hand. To get ahead of him in the media and create a group that doesn't exist, which is why they can't win titles in two or three years. Mourinho is coming to try and recapture some of his former glory."
Schuster lifted the league title during Ramón Calderón’s presidency before being dismissed just before a Clásico, and his latest comments come amid growing discussion around Real Madrid’s new sporting direction.
