Eduardo Camavinga is in a race to recover in time for the start of the La Liga season after suffering an ankle injury.
The 22-year-old midfielder has already missed several training sessions, including Sunday morning’s workout, and is doubtful for Real Madrid’s final preseason friendly against Austrian side Tirol on Tuesday. The full extent of the problem remains unknown, but ankle injuries of this kind often require weeks of recovery.
This latest setback follows a frustrating end to last season for the France international. He missed Madrid’s last six matches, including the Copa del Rey final, due to a left abductor tear sustained in a 1-0 victory over Getafe. The injury also kept him out of the Club World Cup.
Camavinga managed only 35 appearances across all competitions last season, as his campaign was hampered by four separate injuries.
