Carlo Ancelotti, according to former AC Milan and Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello, is the greatest Italian coach of all time.
The 76-year-old singled out Ancelotti for special praise following Real Madrid's Champions League victory over Celtic on Tuesday night, placing him above names like Arrigo Sacchi, Giovanni Trapattoni, Marcello Lippi, and Capello himself.
"The best Italian coach of all time is Ancelotti," Capello said on Sky Sport Italia. "Madrid played a fantastic game."
Capello had already backed Ancelotti before the Champions League final in May because of the latter's outstanding performance in his first season back at the club.
With his victory over Celtic on Tuesday, Ancelotti reached the milestone of 100 away victories in the Champions League, leaving him two wins short of the all-time record.
With 102 victories, Arrigo Sacchi currently holds that record.
