Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal has spoken of his determination to recover from a long-term knee injury in time to help his team compete in the upcoming Club World Cup. The 33-year-old right-back, sidelined for several months, revealed that the goal of returning for the tournament has been a major source of motivation during his rehabilitation.
"This injury has kept me out for a long time, and from the very beginning we approached it as a challenge — trying to be in optimal condition for the Club World Cup — and the truth is, things are going very well," Carvajal said in an interview with FIFA.
The Spanish international emphasized how having the tournament as a target has fueled his excitement and focus: "Knowing I can contribute to the team in that competition gives me a real boost."
Carvajal also reaffirmed Real Madrid's unwavering ambition: "The goal is always to win — that’s very clear at Real Madrid. We’re going to give everything for this title."
He concluded by highlighting the historic nature of the upcoming edition: "There’s footballing history at stake. We want to be the first club to win the new Super Club World Cup."
