Real Madrid and the Community of Madrid unveiled their collaboration agreement aimed at modernizing the Santiago Bernabéu Metro station during a ceremony hosted by Florentino Pérez and Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

The project's aim is to increase its capacity to cater for a higher number of passengers, especially on match days, to ensure universal accessibility and to improve the areas around the stadium. As well as adapting the station to the latest technologies, the design of the station will also incorporate a Real Madrid-related immersive theming.

President Florentino Pérez emphasized the significance of this agreement: "It enables us to collaborate on the upcoming renovation and expansion of a Metro station that is significant to our city and conveniently located for all of us. Real Madrid and the City of Madrid will be pleased with the new station, which will be cutting-edge, accessible for everyone, and equipped with the latest technology".

"The life of Madrid has been greatly influenced by Real Madrid. This stadium serves as both a local and a global symbol. This partnership is crucial for bringing together the history of Madrid, this club, and the Madrid Metro. The Santiago Bernabéu renovation will serve as a motivator, an architectural landmark, and a benchmark for sports venues in the twenty-first century", said Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid.

"The construction will start at the end of 2023. The station will feature better finishes, technology, and maintenance. More than 2,300,000 people have used this station in the last 12 months. This redevelopment is designed especially for madridistas", she added.
