The 30th Administrative Court of Madrid has ordered the suspension of the construction of a new car park at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. This ruling, reported by El Confidencial, marks another setback for Real Madrid, which had already canceled scheduled concerts until the end of March 2025.
The decision follows a complaint from the Residents' Association of People Affected by the Bernabéu (AVPB). The court ruled that the agreement between the City Council and Real Madrid predominantly benefited the club. Despite an initial appeal from the City Council and Real Madrid to continue the construction, the court rejected the appeal and mandated an immediate halt to the project.
The car park, planned for Paseo de la Castellana and Calle Padre Damián, was intended to be public but built and managed under concession by Real Madrid. According to Cadena Ser, the court justified the decision, stating that "continuing the works could create a situation that would be difficult or impossible to reverse if the final ruling favored the plaintiff, necessitating the restoration of the land to its original state."
Real Madrid and the City Council now have 15 days to file another appeal in an attempt to save the project, which is considered essential by the club.
