Thibaut Courtois has taken a new step in his professional journey, this time away from the pitch. Le Mans FC, currently competing in France’s second division, has officially confirmed the Belgian goalkeeper’s investment in the club through NxtPlay Capital, the global investment platform he co-founded alongside Gonzalo Vila.
NxtPlay, which operates at the intersection of sport, media and technology, joins the French side in partnership with NinetyTwo X, the firm led by entrepreneur Jordi Mora Esteve and specialized in sports intellectual property rights.
Courtois becomes part of an ambitious and far from modest project. Le Mans are currently occupying a Ligue 1 playoff position and remain unbeaten in their last 20 matches this season. Since last summer, the club has also assembled a remarkably high-profile ownership group.
Novak Djokovic, one of the greatest figures in tennis history, was among the first to invest. He was later joined by former Formula 1 drivers Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen, both of whom share a strong emotional connection with the city, home to the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans.
With Courtois’ arrival as an investor, Le Mans FC add a leading European football star to what is becoming an extraordinary sporting constellation for a club competing in the French second tier.
