Real Madrid and Thibaut Courtois are close to extending the Belgian goalkeeper's contract until June 30, 2028. According to Fabrizio Romano, with MARCA also confirming the news, the club has accelerated negotiations over a deal that was due to expire in 2027. Both parties have reached an agreement for Courtois to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu for another season, with an official announcement expected shortly.
The agreement follows Real Madrid's established approach to veteran players, whose contracts are generally renewed on a season-by-season basis after they turn 30. However, the club decided not to wait until the final months of the current campaign to resolve Courtois' future.
At 34, the Belgian goalkeeper has earned the club's confidence following its sporting assessment, while Courtois himself is keen to continue his career in Madrid. The new deal would keep him at the Bernabéu until the summer of 2028.
