Thibaut Courtois and Real Madrid have finalized a contract renewal that extends his stay beyond the original expiration date of June 30, 2026. The new deal adds one additional season and takes effect starting August 4, when Courtois begins the new campaign under his updated terms. The extension is fixed for one year, with no performance-based clauses or options for a second season.
Although early reports suggested the possibility of an optional second year depending on his playing time, the club has remained consistent with its policy: players over 32 are offered one-year renewals without conditions. Courtois, who joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in 2018, continues as a key figure for the team heading into the 2025–26 season.
