Thibaut Courtois has added his name to Real Madrid’s growing injury list. The club has officially confirmed that the Belgian goalkeeper is suffering from sacroiliitis, an inflammation in the pelvic area, and his progress will be monitored in the coming days.

"Following tests carried out on our player Thibaut Courtois by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with sacroiliitis. Pending development," reads the club’s official medical statement.

As a result, Courtois will not participate in Belgium’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against North Macedonia and Wales. The keeper had only recently returned to the national team after a long absence, following a coaching change that brought in Rudi García.

Despite the setback, the condition is not considered serious, though it is uncomfortable. Courtois is expected to require about a week of rest and treatment to manage the pain and recover full fitness.

Crucially for Madrid fans, his participation in the upcoming Club World Cup is not at risk. He is expected to be fully fit for the team’s opening match on June 18 in Miami against Al Hilal.
