Marc Cucurella made his first appearance for Real Madrid at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen. The defender came on in the 61st minute and helped the team complete a convincing victory over Schalke 04.

After the match, Cucurella spoke to Realmadrid TV about his debut.

“I'm very happy. I think it was a great game for everyone and a great result before the start of La Liga. These were my first minutes and I'm really eager. The wait felt long, but little by little, I'm getting into my rhythm and looking forward to the start of La Liga.”

Reflecting on his recent weeks, he added: “I’m very happy. Behind all this is a lot of hard work and all the effort I’ve put in these years has been worth it. I’m very happy with everything that’s happening to me and I hope it continues like this, winning titles and, above all, being able to enjoy this experience.”

Cucurella also praised his new teammates and highlighted the importance of team unity.

"My teammates are really good people. I think they make it very easy for everyone to get along. The important thing is to have a good group so that it shows on the field that we're a tight-knit team. That's how you win".

The defender also addressed the messages he has received since joining the club and reiterated his ambition with Real Madrid.

“I’ve received many messages and I’ll try to give my best every minute I play. I think the most important thing, and what we all want, is to win titles with this shirt.”
