Dean Huijsen has been forced to withdraw from Spain’s national team at the last minute and will miss the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Georgia in Elche and Bulgaria in Valladolid.
The Real Madrid centre-back arrived at Las Rozas on Monday evening showing signs of muscle fatigue, and after continuous communication between the Spanish medical staff and Real Madrid, it was decided he would leave the camp to avoid aggravating the problem.
Huijsen did not take part in Tuesday’s training session, and with his condition showing no improvement, further tests were carried out on Wednesday morning. These confirmed a muscle injury, prompting his official withdrawal from the squad so he can begin his recovery during the international break. Real Madrid have already been informed of the diagnosis and will oversee his rehabilitation process.
