Reports had previously linked Real Madrid with Devonte Graham, but recent updates indicate that another former NBA player may be set to join the Spanish club instead.
According to AS, Dennis Smith Jr. is now the leading candidate for the guard position at Real Madrid. While Smith Jr. was previously linked with the team a few weeks ago, the move was postponed at the last minute. However, AS now reports that negotiations have resumed.
At 27, Smith Jr. has found limited opportunities in the NBA, even after attempting a comeback through the G League. Despite this, his career includes stints with the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Portland Trail Blazers, Charlotte Hornets, and Brooklyn Nets, totaling 326 regular season games with averages of 6.6 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game.
He was drafted ninth overall by the Mavericks in 2017 and made the NBA All-Rookie Second Team the following year. Although once regarded as a promising talent, Dennis Smith Jr. now appears poised for a move to Europe.
