Cibeles Fountain, built in 1782, is one of the symbols of the Spanish capital. Located in the center of the square to which it gives its name, it is the scene of Real Madrid's title celebrations. But the goddess has not only seen Real Madrid fans celebrate their triumphs. The colchoneros were the first to go to her.

When Atlético won the 1961-62 European Cup Winners' Cup, a group of fans went to the fountain for the first time. Later, Real Madrid fans followed this custom. In the 70s and 80s, titles from both clubs were celebrated at Cibeles. The goddess stopped being shared in the mid-1980s at the time of the Quinta del Buitre. For five consecutive years (1985-86, 1986-87, 1987-88, 1988-89, 1989-90), Real Madrid were league champions and the fountain welcomed the footballers and their fans, becoming an unmissable place for madridismo.

In 1986, the World Cup was held in Mexico. Butragueño surprised the football world by scoring four goals in the round of 16 against Denmark. This caused thousands of Madrid residents to come to the fountain to celebrate the victory. Cibeles thus consolidated itself as a hallmark of Madrid's identity. In 1991, Atlético decided to move to Neptuno to celebrate the Copa del Rey title, a tradition that continues to this day.
