Positive news for Real Madrid: although there’s still a long road ahead, Eder Militao has made notable progress in his recovery. Just 90 days after suffering a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament, along with damage to both menisci in his right leg, the Brazilian center-back was spotted on pitches 1 and 2 at Valdebebas, the ones reserved for the first team. Meanwhile, his teammates were preparing for the derby against Atlético at the Bernabéu.
Militao's work remains highly controlled and individual, under the watchful eye of the club’s medical team. Yet, one thing that’s already back is his trademark smile, as he jogged around the facilities with a ball at his feet. He even threw in a few step-overs and tested his injured leg several times. While he still has several months of recovery ahead, with the timeline suggesting around nine months off, Militao has shown resilience before. After suffering a significant knee injury in the opening match of last season, he returned stronger. Recently, he shared his hard work in the gym on social media, and now his recovery intensifies as he steps back onto the pitch.
