The list of nominees for the 2024 'The Best' FIFA Men’s Player Award has been revealed, featuring some of football’s top stars, including Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal, Federico Valverde, Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé, Toni Kroos, and Vinicius Jr. Other notable names include Erling Haaland, Lamine Yamal, Lionel Messi, Rodri, and Florian Wirtz.
However, on El Chiringuito, football pundit Edu Aguirre expressed his frustration upon seeing Lionel Messi’s name among the nominees. “It’s a joke. Lautaro won the Copa América, and he's not even here. It’s an injustice,” Aguirre said angrily. He further criticized Messi’s nomination, adding, “It’s a footballing disgrace. We’ve been paying tribute to Messi for winning the World Cup for two years. It’s incredible.”
