Real Madrid is entering a new era—not just on the bench with the arrival of Xabi Alonso, but also in their transfer strategy. The club has shifted from cautious planning to a more aggressive, proactive approach, keen to strengthen the squad well ahead of the Club World Cup in June.

According to AS, the club is prioritizing a "triple hopeful" package of Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Alvaro Carreras. However, this marks just the beginning of a larger transformation.

With Xabi Alonso demanding more firepower in midfield, two top targets have already been identified: Martín Zubimendi and Florian Wirtz. And now, another big name has entered the conversation: Enzo Fernández.

AS reports that Chelsea recently held discussions with Real Madrid, mainly to explore interest in some of Los Blancos’ players. But during those talks, Enzo Fernández’s name emerged—and quickly became a central topic.

This isn’t a new admiration. Real Madrid had already considered Enzo back in 2022, following his standout World Cup with Argentina, as a backup plan to Jude Bellingham. While the move didn’t materialize, the mutual admiration remained—and the lines of communication between the player and the club were never closed.

Today, Enzo Fernández is a more complete player, excelling in the Premier League with 13 assists and 7 goals this season. Perhaps more importantly, he’s openly fond of Real Madrid—frequently visiting the Spanish capital whenever he can.

The major hurdle, however, is his valuation: €120 million. That figure would put him on the same level as Wirtz in terms of investment. For Madrid to make a move, the club is aware that a major departure would likely need to happen first. Internally, Rodrygo's name has been floated as the most realistic trade-off.

There is no formal offer yet, but interest is growing. Enzo likes the project. He likes the city. And Real Madrid is taking serious notice.
