The future of European basketball was the focus of a major meeting on Tuesday, as the 13 EuroLeague clubs gathered in Cernobbio on the shores of Lake Como to discuss the competition's direction. Among the topics on the agenda was the NBA's proposed collaboration as part of its plans to establish a presence in Europe.
According to Reuters, the 13 EuroLeague shareholders unanimously rejected the NBA's current proposal. However, the decision does not necessarily signal the end of discussions, with the European competition remaining open to exploring alternative forms of collaboration in the future. For now, the clubs have chosen to continue developing their own project.
Diario AS reports that Real Madrid has requested an extension to consider a new proposal as talks with the NBA continue. The situation therefore remains open, with the NBA still pursuing its plans for a European project while Real Madrid and the other EuroLeague shareholders continue to follow their own roadmap.
