Arthur Melo, in just his second game for Girona, made headlines during the post-match press conference by declaring: "For me, Real Madrid are the best team in the world."
The Brazilian midfielder, who had two seasons at Barcelona, struggled to leave a significant mark during his time there. Signed from Gremio for €31m, Arthur was later sold to Juventus for €80m in a deal that saw Miralem Pjanic move to the Camp Nou.
"In every match, we give our best and always aim for victory. But playing against Madrid at the Bernabéu, for me the best team in the world, especially when they’re full of confidence, is always a challenge," Arthur remarked. "No matter who we face, we always strive to win with a great deal of respect."
