To honour Real Madrid’s visit to Liverpool, supporters of both clubs gathered to pay tribute to Arthur Johnson, the first manager in Real Madrid’s history, who is buried in Wallasey Cemetery near Liverpool. Members of the Real Madrid fan clubs La Gran Familia and Tribuna Lateral attended the ceremony, laying a wreath at his grave and exchanging commemorative gifts with Liverpool fans.
Arthur Johnson is a key figure in the origins of Real Madrid. As a player, he scored the club’s first-ever goal, and later made history by becoming Real Madrid’s first manager, a position he held for ten seasons.
