Real Madrid are continuing to monitor Fede Valverde’s condition after the midfielder finished the Madrid derby against Atlético Madrid with discomfort in his ankle.
According to the latest information from Melchor Ruiz of COPE, Valverde’s ankle remains “very swollen,” meaning the club will have to wait for the swelling to subside before carrying out further tests and determining the extent of the problem.
The plan is to monitor the ankle over the coming hours. If the swelling decreases, Valverde is expected to undergo further medical tests tomorrow to establish whether he has suffered an injury and, if so, determine the expected recovery time.
For now, there is no definitive medical diagnosis regarding the severity of the issue or how long the midfielder could be sidelined.
The situation is a concern given Valverde’s importance to José Mourinho’s plans. The Uruguayan has established himself as a regular in Real Madrid’s midfield, with his ability to cover ground, contribute defensively and provide an attacking threat making him a difficult player to replace.
