Bad news for Real Madrid. Ferland Mendy suffers a serious muscle injury that will force him to be out between five and six weeks, in a period of the season in which Real Madrid, apart from the league games, have important commitments in the Champions League (Liverpool), Copa del Rey (Barcelona) and the Club World Cup.

Mendy was injured in the first half of the Copa del Rey quarterfinal match against Atlético. This is a serious setback for the team, as his defensive reliability is unquestionable. But it could not be said that the team is not used to dealing with this situation. In Mendy's four seasons at Madrid, the player has suffered nine injuries, eight of them of a muscular nature and one traumatic, and is close to 300 days out.

Real Madrid confirmed Mendy's injury on Tuesday morning through an official medical report: "After the tests carried out today on our player Ferland Mendy by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semimembranosus muscle of the left leg. Pending evolution".
