Spanish Formula 1 icon Fernando Alonso, a well-known Real Madrid supporter, caused a stir with a cheeky remark about Barcelona during a recent interview.
Speaking to DAZN, Alonso was asked which Barça player he would hypothetically sign for Real Madrid. His answer? Pedri — but not for the reason fans might expect.
“I would sign Pedri for Madrid,” Alonso said with a smile, “to weaken Barça. I also do that on the PlayStation — and then leave him on the bench.”
The joke has gone viral among Spanish fans, with Madridistas enjoying Alonso’s playful jab at their eternal rivals.
