Florentino Pérez clarified that concerts held at the Santiago Bernabéu will not influence the future of Real Madrid. He emphasized that these events account for just "1% of the club's total revenue," highlighting that under his presidency, Real Madrid’s financial stability has always been impeccable.
"Hosting concerts is not a significant source of income for Real Madrid. I want you to understand that this activity only represents 1% of our revenue. However, we recognize the importance of these events as they boost the club’s prestige, enhance the image of Madrid, and contribute to Spain’s global brand. That’s why we offer our stadium for such events. It’s up to the City Council to decide whether to continue holding these major events, which would benefit the entire city," Pérez explained.
The Real Madrid president also addressed rumors claiming that the absence of concerts would threaten the viability of the Santiago Bernabéu as a world-class venue. "It’s inconceivable to read in some toxic digital media that the Bernabéu lacks a license to operate," he remarked.
Pérez further discussed Real Madrid’s ongoing dispute with local residents, especially regarding the construction of a new car park aimed at improving the neighborhood. "We collaborated with the City Council to reserve a third of the parking spaces for residents. Does it make sense to invest so much for 25 games a year? We did it to enhance the quality of life in the Chamartín neighborhood, with which we have a strong relationship. The car park was never intended to generate income, but to support the community," Pérez said, noting that property values in the area have risen by 40%.
