Despite his impending free agency, Garuba remains focused on his commitment to the Spanish national team, which aims to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics through the Pre-Olympic tournament. When asked about his future and the possibility of returning to European basketball, Garuba hinted at a preference for Real Madrid, saying, "Let's say yes, I hope so; as long as things are finalized." However, he emphasized that no decisions have been made, and he is currently not in discussions with any teams.

In an interview with Agencia EFE, Garuba expressed his admiration for Real Madrid and its players: "I am always in contact with many of them, and the truth is that it is an incredible team. Campazzo, Tavares, Llull, Rudy, Causeur; especially the veterans, what fascinates me about them is their professionalism. For me, it has been a pleasure sharing a locker room with them because they have helped me grow and see what basketball is like. I am very happy that they are doing well, and they are also adding young players like Musa, Hezonja, Deck continues... It is a great team and they will surely get better."

Garuba hopes the Warriors will continue to support him, stating, "In the NBA, I lack a team that bets on me. But I trust the team where I am today.
