Gonzalo García's stint with Real Madrid Castilla is coming to an end. The prolific forward—who attracted interest from several top-flight clubs during the January transfer window—has opted to leave Castilla and join a Primera División side next season.

This season, García emerged as Castilla’s standout player, netting 24 goals in 34 matches and being the top scorer in the First Division RFEF. His impressive tally has already eclipsed the records of famous reserve team forwards like Butragueño and Jesé, and he now stands just one goal shy of matching Mariano Díaz’s record of 25 goals set in the 2015-16 season.

García’s remarkable form even earned him a chance with Real Madrid’s first team, highlighted by his winning goal in the Copa del Rey quarterfinal against Leganés.

Although he is set to depart from Castilla, Real Madrid are expected to secure a future option to re-sign him—much like their arrangement with Nico Paz. As he prepares to embrace a new challenge in the Primera División, García still has an opportunity to break Díaz’s record, with three matches remaining in the season.
