Mason Greenwood has reportedly told his team that he does not want Jude Bellingham to suffer any consequences. He has also asked them to cease the investigation into the matter so that he can put his concentration on playing football and away from any unfavorable attention. This information is reported by Mirror Football.

Real Madrid defeated Getafe away from home earlier this month, with Joselu netting a brace in the 2-0 victory. Even though the victory was rather easy, attention was drawn to the incident between Bellingham and Greenwood.

Jude was seen on camera mumbling some words towards the Getafe forward. It is suggested that the 20-year-old called him a ‘r*pist’, following which Getafe asked the match officials to take note of the incident.

It seems that officials in Spanish football promptly began investigating the issue, but it is now reported that Greenwood wants them to call off the investigation.

According to a source quoted by the aforementioned outlet, "Mason has told them he doesn’t want Jude to be punished and has asked them to drop it."

“He doesn’t want bad publicity and wants to get on with playing football. He was very upset at the time, as he didn’t expect it from someone like Jude. But he knows he’s always likely to be a target for that kind of stuff, so he’s accepted that he’ll need thick skin,” they added.

It should be mentioned that Greenwood was involved in a case regarding attempted rape and violence in England prior to arriving at Getafe; this case was dismissed in February 2023.
