Erling Haaland is standing out, and a lot, in his first season in the Premier League and at Manchester City. The Norwegian has adapted perfectly to his team and the competition, and has now scored ten goals in six games.

A few weeks ago, the Nordic signed a contract with a communication company 'Viaplay' and they agreed to make a documentary. It's called 'Haaland: the choice', and in it he tells how the process of signing him for Manchester City was.

In the documentary Real Madrid's name appeared too. Haaland, the most sought-after striker at the moment, is one of those few players who can decide where they want to play because of all the great suitors they have, and it seems that the white club was one of them. A journalist asked the striker how do you say no to Real Madrid.

"That's a good question…really, you can't do it," he said with a smile.

Alf-Inge Haaland, the player's father, explained the real reason why they rejected Real Madrid. "We have a criterion. Which team needs a '9'? We saw Manchester City as a 10, as the perfect option, while Real Madrid is a 5 or a 6 because of how Benzema is playing now. Will they manage to sign Mbappé?" Haaland's destiny had to be a club where the Norwegian was 'necessary' from minute one. In Madrid there was the figure of Benzema and the doubt of Mbappé.
