Dean Huijsen is making the most of his summer break by staying ahead of schedule. The young center-back, who recently signed with Real Madrid, is spending his holidays in Málaga—a place he knows well from his childhood and teenage years. But even while back home, Huijsen isn’t switching off.
Taking advantage of his proximity to Marbella, Huijsen joined Real Madrid Castilla—currently in preseason under Álvaro Arbeloa—at the Marbella Football Center. The defender has been training on the same pitches as the reserve team, working hard on his fitness in a familiar and motivating environment.
Photos shared on social media show Huijsen interacting with Arbeloa and several Castilla players, reinforcing his early connection with the club and its future stars. It’s clear that the Dutch-born defender is fully committed to arriving in peak condition when he officially rejoins Real Madrid's first-team squad on August 4, the start of their preseason phase at Valdebebas.
While most of the senior players are enjoying a break after the summer's World Cup competition in the U.S., Huijsen is taking a different approach. By training independently, he’s aiming to hit the ground running and prove himself worthy of a place in Xabi Alonso's defensive rotation.
