Joan Martínez recently attended a pivotal check-up, which would determine the next steps in his long recovery from a torn cruciate ligament injury sustained last August. The appointment, with renowned surgeon Manuel Leyes, brought excellent news—the knee was in perfect condition.
Martínez approached the check-up with confidence in his hard work throughout rehab, though there was still an element of nervousness. The positive outcome has given him a morale boost, and now he can start counting down the days until his return. If his recovery continues on the current path, he is expected to rejoin training with his Juvenil A teammates in early April. Despite being on track to return to the first-team setup before his injury, he will first ease back into competition with the Juvenil A team.
With the season’s schedule already quite tight, it seems unlikely that Martínez will return in time for official matches with Juvenil A or Madrid C, both of which finish their leagues by the first weekend of May. Arbeloa's Juvenil A could potentially reach the Copa de Campeones Final Four, held between mid-May and June. While Castilla finishes later, the focus is on ensuring Martínez is fully fit for the upcoming preseason.
Despite this, Martínez holds hope of being involved in Real Madrid's Club World Cup squad in mid-June, not necessarily to play, but to rejoin the team’s training sessions under Carlo Ancelotti's guidance. His aim is to prepare for a full pre-season, where he is expected to be part of the first-team plans, with the club eagerly awaiting his return.
