Jorge Valdano has urged Real Madrid to commit to a stable long-term project, emphasizing that the next manager must receive full backing from the club.
Speaking on Onda Cero, Valdano warned that constant changes and lack of continuity weaken authority inside the dressing room and harm long-term success. He stressed the importance of choosing a clear direction and supporting it fully.
“It’s time for stability, to choose a project, support it, and accept the consequences. We need to raise the level of intensity, and for that, we must convince the players,” he explained.
Valdano also highlighted the importance of perception within the squad, stating that players quickly identify whether a coach is strong or weak. In his view, a lack of institutional backing can undermine even the most capable managers.
To illustrate his point, he referenced successful figures such as Luis Enrique, Diego Simeone, and Pep Guardiola, who have built strong authority at their respective clubs through consistent support and clear projects.
